Greenlee Bandsaw

Blade keeps coming off when cutting. Have tried different tensions, but no difference. What could be the cause and solution? Thank you.

Misadjusted guides, bad bearing in the idler wheel.

Guides seem tight enough. Both wheels do not have play.

It’s not a matter of play.
It’s about alignment. You should have an adjustment to tilt the non-driven wheel to make the blade track.
Today's solutions are tomorrow's problems.

Thank you. Will check that tomorrow.

I had a bi-metal blade on a 4x6 horizontal saw where the back of the blade stretched enough that the blade would not stay on the pulleys.

It had a lot of miles on it though.

Operating machines is perfectly safe......until you forget how dangerous it really is!

Hi There,

Have you set or at least checked the bearings that
back-up the blade where it passes through the guides?

Good Luck!

Try a new blade before going any further. I have had blades that lost set etc. that still cut [kinda] but would not stay on .

When my 5" x 6" Grizzly saw was new, the blade would start moving away from the upper guide bearings after it got some cutting hours on it. The bearing would start a hit & miss with the edge of the blade at first, and then after more & more cuts, would not contact at all, until the blade would completely come off. I was using Lenox blades too....not cheapies.
With a new blade, it was back to normal, and tracking correctly.

I put the problem blade back on, as it was still cutting well, and adjusted the angle of the wheel a couple times, and end of problem. Didn't take much movement at all. Had no problems when I installed a new blade either.
