Shopmade Slotting Attachement

Post by armscor 1 »

Need to cut some small internal splines for my MC.
Made this which simply attaches to the side of my round head Mill Drill.
Utilised the swivel base of my vise which was sitting under the bench for the last 20 years, can lean the head for cutting taper keyways.

I just have to say that it is really neat. Who would have thought to use that mass of iron right at the column axis. Then use entry of one of the step pulleys. There is a lot to this unit and it's design which is better explored by expanding the pics. I appreciate you sharing this concept with us.

Hi Guys, just cut 1/4" keyway in aluminium bronze, plunged in with 1/8" wide hss toolbit and cut out sides to size with ease.
Very Happy.
