Thanks I'll enquire to try and find out if the pot was powder coated.Glenn Brooks wrote: ↑Fri Jan 24, 2020 3:06 pm If I remember correctly, powder coat melts at around 450*f. However you can sand and smooth out the melted finish and touch it up with lacquer of the same color. Most powder coating places, or suppliers can provide color chips to match, and small aerosol cans to the exact same color matching. Last summer I needed to cut out a bit of rusted sheet metal on my powder coated tender and this process restored the finish quote well.

Looks like there is a little bit of pipe proud of the female part. Hacksaw blade to top of threads, take a punch and collapse the pipe. If you can get it started collapsing, you've got it.

I think I would be on the weld side, but assuming you can get it clean, MIG would be my choice. A couple of fat spots around the inside provides heat to break the bond, and will shrink it slightly when it cools. Then a cheap home made tool that drives on the spot lumps, out she comes. I've never done quite as described, but used it to do lots of similar things from stuck bearing races in blind holes, broken limiters on D60 knuckles, a few dozen broken bolts on my Kubota, and the list goes on and on.

Thanks people, update on getting pipe end out. Tried cold first, no go. Then used Butane torch, got it out without damaging paint finish, which was nice. Had to apply quite a lot of butane torch to it and bit of force but once it started was easy. Am applying Flomasta thread seal to new fittings, easy to undo with hand tools..... no more Butane torch

Good on ya!
No idea what Flomasta is, but if it's Teflon pipe dope, good choice. It's removable, with major strain or pain....or heat!

Don't know why that went up as landscape, original is portrait, an email earlier sent as portrait and received as portrait.

I see why it broke. A lot of weight hanging of that pipe.

I agree. That's too much weight hanging out that far on that pipe.

It broke as I was applying too much force to undo a nipple connector on the water trap. Updated photo of assembly correctly arranged, just loose fitted.

Re: Removing End Of Broken Pipe From Pressure Pot Manifold
Any ideas how I could add support nearer to the end of the pipe, to avoid stressing the join. I have no welding skills but have a machinist friend who can braze, pot has 50 kg of grit at moment, so not so easy to just put in back of car and pop over. A rolled up face towel, stuck under the end, as a temporary? When I fitted pipe in even though not sealed, seems pretty ridgid and solid.
