Of late there has been a number of pictures linked to the Chaski board that display larger than 800 pixels in width. Such pictures spread text off the screen, annoying most readers, so they are not acceptable.
Please make every effort to either resize pictures so they are linked such that they display only if clicked, or are no larger than 800 pixels. Oversized pictures that self execute will be deleted in the future.
I thank you for your cooperation.
Harold

I just want to point out two image editing programs that people here may be interested in. Both these are open source (free), and very good.
ImageMagick - http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php
ImageMagick is a command-line program that will do all kinds of crazy things to a directory of images. I use it to to re-size, and also automatically rotate pictures taken with the camera horizontally. It can make copies of the original to your new specifications, or it can replace the originals.
There isn't any faster way to rotate and resize 1500 images.
The GIMP (The GNU Image Manipulation Program) - http://www.gimp.org/
This is for more intense photo editing and image creation. It's the open source analogue for photoshop. It does things very differently, but it only falls short of photoshop in a couple areas.

IrfanView Image Editor and Resizer
A good, fairly easy to use image resizer for Windows machines is IrfanView. It is available as a free download here: http://www.irfanview.com/.
If you need a certain sized image, say 800x600 you just select the image you want to convert and pick that size from the list. It can also batch process a whole directory of images renaming them according to your liking as it goes so you can preserve the originals.

Microsoft Office Picture Manager
This is a component of Microsoft Office and it contains an image resizer that is really easy to use under the edit menu. If you have Microsoft Office on your computer you should have this application.
