Machine lubrication

Post by gunboatbay »

Lotsa questions/discussion off and on about the proper lubrication for lathe ways, etc., with many members describing their favorite 'home-brews'. Right now, Enco has Mobil Vectra (2&4) on-sale for $14.99/gallon. Combine that price and their free-shipping code for May and there's not much reason to use snake-oil, when you can use the 'proper' stuff proven over the years by many machine shops and apparently recommended by many lathe manufacturers:

Some people just like to wring out their snakes now and then, so what better use for the oil!

Seems I think I abuse the free shipping deal a bit too often, but since I don't hear any complaints, I guess I'll keep doing it.

OK, off to order some oil. . .
