Paul,

No offense taken here and so glad your wife received no serious injury. :) Am also interested in how the blades work out.

Jack.

I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach reading the accident drop and your dear wife's foot. I know what this can be and was so relieved to read the outcome . Let some attribute that to a strong ladyfoot or your response to adrenelin.
Sure, twernt nuttin. Maybe this should be in some "It Ain't Nothing" file of mysterious occurences. I'll bet many could contribute to that one.

In regards to the subject of religion----those of us who live in the US have the right to pick and choose religion---including the right to be free of same. I take a strong stance in that regard. I have no problem with anyone posting what is their reality----so long as it does not become a sermon. I would gladly ban anyone who misuses the board in that fashion.

If an individual chooses to comment that he prayed for a given outcome, I see no harm-----I'll tolerate that without issue, much the same as I would if one were to have posted the he hoped for a given outcome. Change that to a mandate, or mention a specific religion and I might see things differently. There will be no promotion of anyone's particular choice of poison on this board.

I know what it's like to be set aside because of not belonging to a given faith. Don't much like the feeling. I want to ensure that readers, here, are never subjected to anything like that. I also want to ensure that the subject can't be discussed to the point where readers are divided. We avoid controversial subject matters (religion and politics) for that very reason. Prolonged discussions on those subjects have no resolution, and do nothing more than alienate readers. Please do not prolong this subject.

Harold

On appearance the blade welders rely upon a spring pressure calculated by setting the width and process. The weld happens in split second so it works. The band is essentially a short but there are ohms difference between the ends which starts a higher voltage process. It consumes the material so the pressure is equivalent. It would seem a newer battery DC machine could have a network that feeds back from the blade clamps and regulates this process with a much dumber mechanical spring action.

Then of course, if one tries to use these clamped to a battery under the hood of a vehicle.. Beware! Everybody knows this but don't get sloppy. The spikes can cause major harm to the ecm/ecu . Sure it can be done but don't risk it. 10mm or 5/16 for side posts(old days now) This should be with No electrical connection to the auto.

Edited, no offense meant.

Thanks Ken. I broke a blade yesterday, bevel ground it and silver brazed it in a guide I made. So far it's cut 50 sq inches without a bump or a hitch. 4 1/2" dia Durabar come off within .003 parallel So the blade welder is no longer needed. Peter
