SCAM WARNING - Avoid AMTOOL.COM

SCAM WARNING - Avoid AMTOOL.COM

In May I placed a $126 order with AMtools.com.
The same day I placed a 2nd order for $53.
After a week with no shipping update I inquired about both orders. The reply said they were moving and some orders were delayed. I received the $53 order a few days later.
No response on the larger order, which was paid through Paypal. Several attempts to contact them produced no response at all.
After 3 weeks I filed a claim with Paypal. That is currently proceeding. The seller has not responded to Paypal on this claim. His deadline was 6/14.

At this date the money has not yet been restored to my Paypal Account.
AMtools.com website is still up and appears to be accepting orders.
The prices are very tempting. Caveat emptor

I guess when I opened it I got a cached page.
I'm waiting to see if Paypal returns my money.
I'm doubtful at this point

The website seems to be operational. I placed a dummy order and found a phone number for you:
Should you have any questions about your order or have any problem during checkout, please call us: (909)217-8109, we're ready to help.
It's our pleasure to serve you & thank you for your business!
I don't know if that is actually the vendor's phone number, or if it belongs to the webstore company. The encrypted webstore is being run on the same server as the initial website, both provided by networksolutions (a large domain hosting company), who are hiding the registrant info about their customer. The registration was updated on June 1 of this year, which may be related to the domain disappearing for a while. Here is the registrant info associated with the domain:
Registrant:
LLC, networksolutions
Network Solutions LLC
13861 Sunrise Valley Drive, Suite 300
HERNDON, VA 20171
US

Domain Name: NETSOLSTORES.COM

Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
LLC, networksolutions
Network Solutions LLC
13861 Sunrise Valley Drive, Suite 300
HERNDON, VA 20171
US
703-668-4900 fax: 703-668-5817

Record expires on 14-Nov-2017.
Record created on 14-Nov-2005.

Domain servers in listed order:

NS1.NETSOLMAIL.COM 205.178.188.25
NS2.NETSOLMAIL.COM 205.178.144.52
Perhaps their cage can be rattled a bit since mail fraud in the US is a serious federal offense.

Doing some further searching suggests amtool is the new name of long-time eBay seller 800watt, a purveyor of drop-shipped cheap Chinese goods with a history of poor communication. (see: http://800watt.blogspot.ca/)

Sellers with a good reputation do not usually change their names. I once considered one of his auctions, asked two questions about the item and received a one-word answer. I bought from someone else.

Hope this helps.

No communication at all.

I see that....it's amtoolS, not amtool. I found it when I added the 's'.

If it's a rebranded 800 Watt, that explains a lot. My experience is similar to Flybynight's, and no doubt many others. I bought one thing from him on FleaBay, and didn't know if I was ever going to see it. Doesn't take 5 weeks to get something in stock. NO communication, but I finally got it. I wrote a negative review and then he communicated though. He emailed me wanting me to retract my review. No chance. I told him he should change his name to 5 Watt.
