Sunnen Mandrel Sizes

Post by NealinCA » Thu Nov 21, 2013 5:55 pm

I have an old Sunnen pin hone, which uses SL style mandrels. I need to hone some 1-3/8" bushings. Can anyone sell me what number mandrel I would use? I don't have any in that size range, so I will need to find one. I just need to know what I am searching for, part number wise....SL-1xxx?

Here's a pic of the hone, circa 1932. I have since added a coolant tank and pump.

Thanks,

Neal

Pretty sure I have one somewhere.

I'll check tomorrow.

Fact is, I could probably fix you up with a pretty good size box of SL mandrels and stones...

Nice little hone! I have a bench top model which has the dial indicator on it, finding mandrels for it is the hard part!

If you are just looking for the numbers, I think this is what you need:
#1250 is range 1.230 - 1.375
#1375 is range 1.355 - 1.500

Thanks steamin...that helps with the numbers.

And Glenn...let me know if you have an SL-1375, I could also use an SL-1125.

Thanks,

Neal

The sizes would be SL-1140, SL-1200, SL-1300, SL-1400, etc.

Got about 50 of those early style mandrels and some boxes of stones.

PM me if you are interested.
