Ok. This thread has gone on long enough and wandered enough that I can no longer resist the urge to offer an answer to the question in the title.

JackF; Thanks for letting me practice on your 30tpi screws. I had occasion to make another 30tpi for a Lyman 310 Tong Tool expander die. I didn't have to search for how to do it because of your request. Oddly this one was a .400x30-2A. Glad I don't have to make the nut.

To turn 60tpi into 30 tpi you have to double the speed of the leadscrew.
