Just wondering.

Some lathes have threaded holes, thru holes, or both for leveling of the lathe.

If the lathe base has both, does it really make a difference which one you use???????

"If" the threaded hole, then I would presume that a square steel plate should be against the concrete. And maybe even a small dimple for the bolt to set in???

Just wondering.

Thanks

Carl

Here's what I did last year. I have a Jet 1340 with threaded holes (8). The holes were threaded for 1/2 x 16. I used 1/2x16 bolts with nuts in both sides of the plate, the bolts were first chamfered on a grinder to fit in slight indentions in aluminum plates (1/2" thick about 3"x4"). the plates sit on 1/2" neopreme squares the same size. All this sits on some wood 4x4's to raise the lathe to a height that will not kill my back during long sessions. I leveled the over a week using a borrowed precision level. Everything seems fine so far - it's still level and I am having fun!!

I would use the threaded holes for leveling and the thru hole for anchoring with bolt anchors or cast in the floor anchor bolts.
