For owners of 13" South Bend lathes, the most helpful site on the internet is owned by Ryan Battelle.
He details each and every assembly with a photo essay on each. I cannot say enough about the usefulness of Ryan's site:
Refurbishing a 1952 South Bend 13"x40" Lathe

I have moderated two Yahoo groups for over a year now. You need to apply to join, and I usually approve people within a day or so.
The first group has exploded parts drawings and assembly drawings for the Heavy 10 lathe and its accessories.
The second group has "How to" files which detail how to break down and restore the lathe, and power it.

I hope these are of help to South Bend lathe owners.

Nelson,
Thanks. As the proud new owner of a SB-13, I am grateful for these links. I have already joined the Yahoo sites.

Be sure to check out Ryan's site- he totally restores a SB 13"...
I ended up copying some of the pages- you can literally make a manual of all the work he did.
There are literally hundreds of pictures of his efforts.
Best,
Nelson

Yes, thanks.... I've been doing a little cruising, of his site, and some shameless downloading.

What I did was to explode each photo to full size, and copy it along with the regular photos and text as a reference manual, because many of the assemblies and techniques of the Heavy 10 are similar to the 13 inch. The detail on his site is fantastic.pockets wrote:Yes, thanks.... I've been doing a little cruising, of his site, and some shameless downloading.
