reverse tumbler gear speed reducer for G0602 lathe

Post by norman »

I've built a speed reducer for this lathe and a reverse tumbler gear set. I have it posted on another forum. With the moderators permission I could put up a link to the forum.
Norman
Here is the speed reducer slows the spindle down to about 58 rpms for easier threading I hope. Made from casting for the reducers frame and 3 timing gears from a small engine my first attempt at building a speed reducer.

I have an idea for an easier to make speed reducer. That will still fit inside the lathe cover, plus make it so a guy can change the speed some. I drew up a rough sketch in deltacad and promptly lost it, not knowing what I was doing trying to send it by email. Now I just have to build it and redo the plans.
Good news!
Blame got my email of the drawing and put it on the speed reducer post in "projects in metals" forum
