5c collet purchase options

Post by Dan B »

I'm in the market for a few 5c collets. There are plenty available from ebay or tools4cheap but I'm a bit leery of chinese imports for less than $10. Should I be or are these collets ok? I'm open to buy used well made collets. Opinions?
Thanks,
Dan

personally, i would get a cheap set to get started, the cheap import ones I have are fine, they dont have the nice fit and finish that my lyndex or stark collets have, but they function fine and have no runout.

Try Joe at plazamachinery.com.

He has used collets from Hardinge, Royal, Lyndex - many of the top American brands.

If you are starting from scratch, sometimes you can find assorted lots on Ebay.

I use the Enco brand I think they call them Interstate now. Never had a problem with any of them not running true.
