Setting Head Angles

Post by ctwo »

I saw on YouTube Oxtoolco demonstrate some uses for a sine bar.

One was to set a flat reference plate in the vise using a sine bar that is setup to the same angle you want to tilt your head. Then stick a DTI in the spindle and rotate it on the plate, like you would normally tram a head, and adjust for zero needle. This should be more accurate than using a protractor. I suspect you can use a sine bar on each axis to accurately set a compound angle.

How's that?

Good tip, thanks. I passed it on to my friends.
