Cinti Toolmaster 1D serial number ?

Post by jcfx »

A buddy of mine just bought a nice Cincinnati Toolmaster mill and he was wondering what the age of
the mill is, it has a power down feed and powered table if I recall correctly.
Do these machines have a serial number hidden somewhere that could be used to date the machine ?

I found a Cincinnati manual here: http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/2097/15219.pdf

Thanks Brook, but I've seen the User manual on Vintage Machinery and
I've also seen the Service and Parts Manual on Practical Machinist too.
There doesn't seem to be any mention of where a serial number plate
is located in either manuals.

jcfx,

Page 27 of the manual under "How to order parts", line #3: "Give complete serial number of machine. (this number will be found stamped at top of column front face between dovetail ways)"

OKAYYY !
Nutty deadlines and lack of sleep coupled with a little ADD made me completely
miss the manuals pointers to where the serial number is,
Apologies and thanks Brook.

So what did you find? Any idea when it was made? The factory was about a half mile up the road from me.

Other than finding out that it's a 50's vintage mill through Lathes.co.uk,
and that it's well regarded for heavy cuts compared to a Bridgeport not much else.

Over at P.M. there is a guy with direct connection to Cincinnati M. There is more information than "built in the '50's.
