My new baby was delivered here today.
I will try for some pictures and have a few new-be questions soon.

Re: Millrite vertical mill
The machine pictured is a United States Manufacturing Model “MV”. You can get a manual from the Yahoo group.

You must be a member to excess the files. United States Manufacturing sold out many years ago and were bought up by Burke. The statement about a small Bridgeport is the truth. I just do not under stand how you got it down a flight of stairs. I imagine the machine has to be around 1000lbs. I hope to get mine up and running soon.

Rustoholic in regards to a VFD
I just went through the discussion here, on the board, about putting a VFD on my mill.
Here is a link to the thread.

I ended up buying this one, and have no regrets.

I still have not set up any external controls. They are not needed to run it, but make it a LOT easier to operate.
Hope that helps!

Re: Millrite vertical mill
I am using a teco 120v to 220v 3 phase for my lathe and it works great. I am using another brand for my Bridgeport and it also works good. I believe the difference is in the ease of programing, also the Teco has a vector drive which gives you a little more torque at low speeds. I purchaced both from Deeler Electric and was satisfied with the service price and shipping. just my 2 cents
Re: Millrite vertical mill
I have a couple of nice Mitsubishi VFDs that I use for 3-phase, or which I have none at this time.
However, mine are 220V 1-ph to 230V 3-ph. I understood 120V 1-ph to 230V 3-phase was a big jump up in price.
Can you guys give us model numbers or links to the single-phase units you bought?

I'm not sure where things stand with your move, etc, but I recently moved one of these into the basement of a 100 yr old home (down a flight of stairs), so I might have some tips for you.Rustaholic wrote:My new baby was delivered here today.

Re: Millrite vertical mill
When you have a chance check the current rating on your mill;use this to select the correct size vfd. try to stick with with the teco unit with the vector drive its a nice feature.

Re: Millrite vertical mill
Cool score. I'm working with low ceiling height and was wondering, what is the total height of a millrite?
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Millrite vertical mill
Chris, my MVN is just under 71". It probably varies an inch or two depending on the motor.
