Hi all, I may have a line on what appears to be a Chinese made ZAY7032G (though maybe just std 7032 -- the plate is missing). My question is can replacement parts for these machines be easily obtained and if so from where? It appears that HF may have resold this model at one time though this one does not have the HF coloring. I emailed HF anyway but haven't gotten anything useful back yet. Right now all I'm going on is a picture and I can see a few pieces obviously missing. The last thing I want is a project that is impossible to complete.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Besides HF, you might also send a note to Grizzly.

Thanks Russ, in my google searches I had seen a few mentions of that as well. It doesn't appear that Grizzly ever resold this model -- though they had at least one or two very similar so maybe some of the parts would be interchangeable. Still a bit of a scary proposition.

I'm not entirely sure at this point -- just going on a few pics. Let's see if this helps.

No I'm just trying to get a general idea of what would obviously needs replacement (missing hand wheels etc.) from the picture and more importantly verify that parts are available for this thing before I consider making a trip to see it.

Christian,

providing that mechanically it's ok, handwheels and those type of things can be replaced. Many online stores carry handles, knobs and buttons in a wide range so this should not be such a big factor in deciding if you take the machine. Most anything can be fixed depending on how much time your willing to invest and you don't have to go to the manufacturer for the parts every time.

Paul.

given all the messing around that has been done to this machine, i would have concerns
about the gears in the head

plated missing broken hand wheels, did it get tiped over if so acme rods on table could be bent etc

realise that most import tools from the china region are build using a master print. some parts interchange and some dont
look at similar machines from grizzley, jet, harbor frieght etc each importer will have its own numbers and parts stock. grizz seeming to be the best.

Thanks for all of the fast feedback. As a result of the comments here and some more thinking on my end I've decided not to pursue this particular one. With my current lack of knowledge and all of the what if's I don't think it would be worth the drive to look at it.

This does definitely help shed some light on general information regarding repairing these Chinese machines that are out of warranty and/or not sold directly through a local distributor like HF or Grizzly. I'm sure it will come in use down the road.

Thanks again,

Christian

If you got it cheap-cheap, it might be worth it to hack on. Not for any big money though. I'd look for hand wheels and stuff at Enco. The plate can be made from some .030 aluminum. Looks like someone oop'ed it into a wall or floor.
