The Ames milling machine

Post by spro »

These are rare. To consider or understand how they work is knowledge. Somebody here has one and perhaps adds some information. There was a straight mill then a different, unique machine, universal in most planes. TIA. :)

I got a B C Ames Triplex milling machine for a museum in Waltham, MA The machines rests unassembled, unseen in the basement.
The machine is more a curiosity then a practical machine.

Ken, I really appreciate the pictures. One of these graced the cover of HSM or related publication years ago but I think it was a different one.

I'm really glad there isn't one of those for sale nearby me - I'd have some serious trouble resisting. . .

I have this machine and have been looking for info on it. I use it in my business on a daily basis, still accurate but limited on size
