Hello My Friends
Very cool fabrication of the trailing truck. Cut, form, weld on the dotted line. A most delightful puzzle you have going there.

Finally got all of the round and oval inserts completed and welded in place as well as the eyebrows. Getting started on finishing and installing the top pieces. Yes, it definitely seems like a puzzle at times - one that I am never totally sure that I have the right pieces for. :)

Continuing on with the puzzle theme, we have made a bunch more pieces and are fitting them to the frame.

The puzzle is a lot easier to solve when the puzzle master is there to help you along. I know, that is how my trailing truck went together as well. I was a bit luckier than you though. My trailing truck has no brakes. Much simpler.

Looking good.

I'll take the burning of fingers is optional.

Work on the trailing truck continues. More of the same - making little parts, fitting, finger burning, welding, grinding, and sanding. Repeat. Ed directs and does all the welding while I do most of the sanding and finger burning. But, I am more than happy with the results.

Nice workmanship, indeed! Please continue to post your progress to us modelers!
Lasered parts, bent, welded together and milled then to the precise dimensions. Your's is the same methode I prefer to make those parts for my A 1239. Making patterns annd to cast just a few parts for one single engine mostly won't pay off.
Please look the photos of brake hangers just in production.

With the addition of the brake lever brackets and some gingerbread, the trailing truck frame is nearing completion. The leaf springs and most of the suspension parts are complete as well. The journal boxes and axle assemblies are done. Just need to finish the brake rigging and it will be time to start putting things together. Some initial test fitting has already shown that my fingers are way too fat to get inside the frame to put things together and it will take some creativity to get everything assembled.

Carved the journal boxes out of aluminum. The CNC mill comes in real handy on stuff like this.

Where did you get those Axle Box covers with Timken on them, and what size are they?

Ed made a mold and had the jbox covers cast. I am not sure the size but can measure it at the next work session.
