Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge
Hello Rob,
thank you for your interest. I will post some more picture, no problem. When im back home i will make some more pictures.
I like your project, the J-3's are very good engines.
Another proof for succesful engines, the combination of baker steering G.S.C Frames and the timken runing gear
seems to be a guarantor for that succes.
Would love to see some of your work!
Kind Regards
Chris

Hello everybody,
After many hours of sheet metal work, the engine truck is now ready. We had to deviate a bit from the original to ensure a screeching distance of 16mm in each direction.
The cylinder drainage could not be done mechanically because the rash of the engine truck is too big for the lever position. Now we have converted these to steam.
The bearing has arrived some days ago and is now mounted on the pivot point.
Some pics of the truck
All the best and merry Christmas to all of you Guys.

Hello Chris,
Same laser cut parts as used with my A, different method of making! Here's the missing photo, showing the raw parts.
Much bending and a lot of precise TIG-welding, so many hours of work, yet !
Carry on!

Amazing work Chris and WD! I love that moment of truth when the air line is connected and the regulator is cracked open and off she goes! I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful machines in person!
The use of the taper locks on the axles is very interesting. I've used them in industrial applications and they are almost bullet proof. I might have to try them on a locomotive. I'm guessing that you have covers for them so they can't be seen?
Thanks!
Andy

Hello Guys,
today we finished the work on the trailing truck frame.
Sandblasting was the last step.
Still a lot of work to do for sure, but another big part is ready.
first time under the engine
All the best
