Hi all,

since we finished the Tender for Asteamhead´s A we made some progress
on my J Tender, the Body is almost ready. Building the welded Construction
of this type of Tenders takes less time as the one for the A´s took, but both was fun.

Hey Chris,
Now come on and let us start with the two pairs of Commonwealth boogies to put them on wheels!
My plans are to construct a mixed laser parts / casted solution. This will combine both stability which is needed for sitting on the tender and the admired GSC-look.
With my A I'm just milling parts for the coupling device between loco and the tender. This will be slightly different from the prototype solution due to improved handling and tramsfering the drawbar force at narrow curvature.

Best regards from Asteamhead

Guys,

@Todd,

thank you for your words.

@Asteamhead,

yes i will follow you with your ideas, you are the guy with the construction knowledge.
As you see, i have some more work to do on the 22D. The Stairs are missing and some other Details.
I like the idea to combine casted and laser parts. We should talk about, you`re right.

See you on Saturday.

Kind Regards
Chris

Hello ,

some more steps on my Project J #611 .
Not much to show, only the milling work
on the frame sides. We fixed it with bolts and some
welded spots. Cutouts for the Axle Bearing will do the CNC.

Hi all,

i just want to show some progress on my J 611.
In the last weeks we made the axlebearings also
the axles. The axles and the wheels are mounted with
conical couplings . The first part of the frame is done also,
just need to finish the Excerpts of the axles , i will do this
on the cnc for a better Precision. The main wheel becomes
a franklin wedge.

Here some shots.....

Dedicated to all steam fans of the fameous N&W RR:
While the new J is well under way in the Duisburg shop of my friends, I took the chance to take some actual photos of their Y6b (1 in 10 scale). That beauty got an overhaul including a complete painting, perfectly done during the last months. The tender is still under work and is assumed to be done till end of this year, too.
By the way: my A 1239 is still growing, too! Will be reported soon.

I'll second Jack's comment. Beautiful work! I thought I was looking at the prototype.
