Harold Crouch told me that the NYC machine shops had to polish out all the tool marks on the side rods or they would develop cracks. And machinist were not allowed to use the top of the rods as anvils

Hello Timken-Fans,
yesterday, we mounted all rods on the bolts with bearings.
No difference to the movement with only the parallel intermidient rods. The gear moves smoothly, im very happy about it.
All the Best

Hello Chris,
today I got the oportunity testing the smooth running of your J's Timken gear by myself (hands on).
Actually their wheels can be turned fully 360° by a fingertip! No friction, no 'edging' at any angle, no backlash within the side rods. But full ability to move axles up and down as the equalizers will allow.
Congratulation to that outstanding precise workmansship by intelligent means of CNC tools, hats up!

Hi Guys,
time to post some news of our J 611.
Because of a big fair in April, we've made a test run to find out how freely our model moves.
By a weight of 600g the locomotive starts moving ....
Have a look....

Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge
Christian,
Any updates on the J? I am trying to get slowly started on my 1.5" scale one! Maybe it will be done in 20 years!
What dimension did you find for the width of the front buffer beam? I have found 10'2" but the drawing is hard to read and it covers a number of different class engines and pilots. Another drawing lists 11'3".
At some point is it possible for you to share your file that you used to print the pattern for the T-95 tender trucks? I would like to scale them up and have my own cast here in the USA.
Thanks,
Peter
