Having once been "the machine tool capital of the world", the Cincinnati Historical Society, in the Cincinnati Museum Center (housed in Cincinnati Union Terminal) has a nice small display of some vintage machine tools.

IIRC, they have a lathe, a planer and a milling machine (can't remember if its horizontal or vertical...) all hooked up to an overhead belt system and occasionally have a machinist there demonstrating their use.

They also have a few other non-working machines and a 'family tree' of the local companies that once made many of the machines we all know and love.

I was not aware they had that. I've been there a number of times for Summerail, always enjoyed that and visiting Tower A.

Western Maryland Scenic Railway. Cumberland, MD (on the WV border, just south of the PA border.) Operating steam trip; they may have a shop tour. They're restoring a Mallet they got from the B&O museum.

That is great, will be driving from Buffalo to Austin and need to break the dreadful drive.
We do it every year so we can do a couple each year.
