RN - wow, that is an awesome achievement, making a pump from scratch! Id love to see a “build thread” on that, have you posted about it anywhere?

Steam Pump need help identifying
Re: Steam Pump need help identifying
No build thread on my dummy pump.
I started with castings sold by Railroad Warehouse (Nevada), but they are no longer in business.
Someone purchased the castings and patterns, but I know not who.
After preparing and joining the castings, I detailed the pump the best I could.
The picture in the above posting shows the air filter angled to the right and not "straight."
That actually replicates the pump on the locomotive I copied the pump from.
More pics below, for your use.

Don't know if this will help. The link provided shows how I modified Nelson Riedel's Steam pump to a 1.5" scale and eliminated the compounding on the steam side. I also have a section which explains how the pump works. Been playing around with Fusion 360 and almost finished modeling it in 3D. Once done I will post on my site. http://www.danslocoworks.com/Air_Compre ... ressor.htm

Dan, thanks that is a great write-up and a nice pump you built! It certainly helps me understand What is needed. Hope someone recognizes these castings and points me to plans as detailed as your drawings. Guess I could try scaling yours down! Thanks again, Bill C.
