I finally got the automatic threading attachment on the chucker working. It took a little adjustment and some learning curve but it really works great.
I am using it to thread each end of the injector starter valve body. I am cutting a 7/16-40 right hand thread.
This machine will repeat the sizes over and over again. Who needs CNC. LOL
I cant wait to get the Hardinge DSMA automatic screw machine up and running.

AUTOMATIC THREADING ON THE HARDINGE
ALLWAYS OPERATING MY TRAIN IN A SAFE MANNER USING AUTOMATIC AIR BRAKES
Re: AUTOMATIC THREADING ON THE HARDINGE
Trainman...no doubt, that's an interesting machine there. Dead nuts, balls on accurate (will the board let me say that?). A couple questions if you don't mind elaborating...
1) why does the auto threader cycle (10) times? ...can it be done in 5? Is this to control the amount of material removed with each pass? Would seem for a 40 thread pitch, the thread could be made in fewer passes.
2) can you show us the holding fixture for such an odd-shaped piece? Maybe another video idea on how you generate that item.
Just curious how things like you're doing can be "mass-produced"...as quickly as you and the machine can coordinate your efforts. An inquiring mind would like to know. Thanx. Carl B.

Life is like a sewer...what you get out of it depends on what you put into it!
I don't walk on water...I just learned where some of the stepping stones are!
I love mankind...it's some of the people I can't stand!

Hi Carl
I will make a supplemental video today showing the threading attachment in action close up. I will also explain how I made the special jaws to hold the part.
For now here is a picture of the aluminum jaws holding the body.

Awesome!! Your moving right along with this project. It would have taken me a month to figure out that threading attachment.

Thanks Dave
It helps to have all the manuals. I get them from Ozark Wood Workers

Re: AUTOMATIC THREADING ON THE HARDINGE
You can cut the cycle time in half ,there is an adjustment knob to the left of the hold down plunger all you have to do is wind it all the way in .Jeff

Re: AUTOMATIC THREADING ON THE HARDINGE
Thanks Jeff for the information.
All this is new to me but it's not bad to learn It is much easier than the CNC stuff. No flack please about CNC this is thread about manual machining Thanks

Hello Dave,
Not only did you get rid of your CNC lathe but it seems you also got rid of Charles Nelson Corrigan. Haven't seen him in a long time!
