Hey Dennis-- Next time you get stuck in Long Beach-- go visit the Southern California Live Steamers at Torrance, CA.. Not far from Long Beach. Check it out.

There's also Orange County Model Engineers in Costa Mesa, which is nearer to Long Beach, but don't know when they run.

At OCME, our regular public run days are the third full weekend of the month, Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 to 3:30. As a fellow Live Steamer however, you would be welcome before and after that time slot as well. Just seek out an OCME member and introduce yourself.
