Painting Brass

Post by chucka »

I have just completed my all brass tank tender for my 1" scale pacific. So it is now time for painting. Thought I would ask what sort of prep should be done to the brass before painting and what paint should be used. I am modeling the Chicago & Alton and they were a burgundy color

Thanks,

Chuck

I had mine powder coated. Lots of cleaning with fine sandpaper, scotchbrite, and chemical etch. (probably overkill)
But then, my color was black. There are "standard" RAL colors if you go that route.... and sample chips are available.

I have attached the RAL Color Chart.
