Small Scale Meeting at LALS in July
Re: Small Scale Meeting at LALS in July
Fantastic news!!!!!
Reps from Accucraft will be there. Lals member Terry Spar along with Bob Crone will be displaying a lot of gauge one locomotives, with possibly a small track. Also on Sunday Terry will crank up his live steam tractor ice cream maker and will have it on Sunday's lunch. Steam creame at its best!
Terry has the very first Allegheny type locomotive in gauge one for display....keep the drooling at least 5 ft away.

No, Uncle Sam will be staying at Bitter Creek. I could barely cram my 4 3/4" stuff in my pick-up truck.DJSteamer3017 wrote:Are you bringing your Uncle Sam down as Well?sabin wrote:I'm going to be there with my narrow gauge stuff.

Due to work requirements (I really need to retire), I will not be at LALS in the late afternoon. If you are arriving in the 12-6 pm range, pm me and I will give gate close if you do not know it. Might be a famous locomotive number.....4 digits

I had a terrific time at the meet. Thanks to Matt for organizing it and to C.P. and Alex for their hard work. The track was in great shape. Lots of fun equipment to look at and friends new and old to talk with. Fun stuff!

I just want thank everyone who came to the meet. Seem that it was a great turn out and some great looking engines. It was nice to finally meet the people you chat with on this site. I had a lot of fun just walking around watching and taking pictures. Thanks again and hope I have my engine running in time for the next meet.

anyone have any photos to post?
Re: Small Scale Meeting at LALS in July
Plenty of photos ... just have to remember to download from the camera.
The meet was quite the gab-fest.
Jin Sabin visited from Paso Robles,
Jack Bodenmann visited from Grover Beach,
John McKnight visited from San Diego,
Matt Mason visited from Sacramento,
Erin Swain visited all the way from Flagstaff,
and a few more who I don't recall right at the moment.
The steaming bays were full, and there were a few locos brought out into the light of day after many years of darkness.
And a few of us made plans to visit St. Croix next year.

We hope many of you do make it. Jim Culver and I were talking at the track Saturday how much we'd rather have been at LALS, but the fact we usually have to stop in October until mid-April or so really has us feeling the time pressure - so we stayed "home" and worked. LALS and GGLS set a high bar when they put on a meet, so we gotta have our act (and our track) together.Andy R wrote:And a few of us made plans to visit St. Croix next year.

There were lots of locos for sale. Here's a glimpse of the crowd around the Garden Railway stuff.
There were 3.5-inch gauge projects available, and one really nice "running-on-air" 4.75-ingh gauge pacific with brass tender that was sold by John Yells to Art Barter. (unfortunately I don't have a photo of that.)
