Steam pressure gauges is there any interest in them?
Re: Steam pressure gauges is there any interest in them?
Thanks everyone for the compliments I went back and edited my original posting to now include a poll question. If I can get enough interest I may go ahead and get a few kits CNC machined up. Making a 300psi dial wouldn't be too hard now that I have the artwork all set to go on the computer, it would only take a little bit of editing. If there is enough interest maybe I will do a run of them so if you want one feel free to use the polling buttons above. In the mean time if you like any of the faces you see shoot me a private message and I would be happy to sell one of those.
On a side note anyone know of a good smaller sub one inch readily available gauge that is out there. The nice thing with the photo etch process is that you can get great detail and if I am making more of these it would be nice to offer in all sizes.
By the way jcbrock I love the photo of the lima pressure gauge. That is more or less the look I was going for, at the same time I have always been a bit partial to the "Ashton Valve company" logo and seeing as they are now long gone, I figured few would mind if I made a handful of those and maybe sold a few to offset costs as opposed to Ashcroft who is by every means a fully viable firm.

Hi
American Model Engineering Supply has 1" diameter gages. They can be on the small side to be able to read. But then work great.

I would be interested in maybe two 2" ( or 2 1/2" gauges) with 250-300 psi range. Smaller than two inches is definitely to small for grand scale locos. Plus harder to see with tired eyes.

I would be interested in two, maybe three 1.5", 300 PSI gauges.

Sorry, never mind I posted a preliminary sketch of the artwork for a 300psi gauge but the more I look at it there are issues and it just doesn't look right. I will have to work more on this one later. I do plan on making a 300psi one soon though.

well I thought it deleted, but I guess the image is still there. So I want to take some time to make the tick marks a little smaller like some of the other photos I am seeing of the gauges.

The old Gage's I had years ago were marked in two colors - operating temperature white, danger zone and up another color - I think it was red .
Also, might be interesting to add an option for a 2.5" or
3" scale gage, to asses larger scale interest.

Re: Steam pressure gauges is there any interest in them?
Well it only took about 3 years and the encouragement, and manufacturing assistance of fellow form member Mike McCotter, but now the first batch of 10 of these are now ready for sale, here's the photos of what we came up with;
The final gauges measure in right around 2"dia at the bezel.
If interested in purchasing I am listing them over in the for sale section. Depending on how much interest there is hopefully we will come out with more options, pressures, faces and ranges.

Re: Steam pressure gauges is there any interest in them?
One question - how do you verify the gauges will accurately register what they indicate on the gauge?
I’d be interested in maybe a couple of gauges, if they register at least up to 250 PSI.
Thanks
Glenn
