And we are back!!

Post by dorin »

We are back!
Here are the improvements.

* We are no longer on shared hosting!! We should see a performance increase, but also we should not be running out of resources as we did before.
* Tapatalk is installed!
* Google advertisements are gone! (Though you will see some advertisements if you use tapatalk...that is what they charge for their free app)
* Notice we are on the prosilver style. It is responsive, so the mobile style is not installed.
You can switch back to subsilver if you wish, that style is installed.
* Auto resizing of pictures allows for more flexibility in uploading, but there is still a cap on size. We have to watch this incase it is chewing up too many of our new resources.

I was not able to do the like button..I could not find a reliable extension for that.

Please excuse the hiccups that may happen this week!

Also, post problems in Q&A section. I will try to resolve as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience!
[already noticed one hiccup..some missing pictures...working on that]
[found a lot of the pictures, please let me know if you see anything else]

Looks very nice, and it appears to respond faster. The photos seem clearer, too.
Excellent job, and thanks.

Looking nice. But one thing I'm finding is the number of announcement entries are filling a page. So when looking at any single group you have to start scrolling just to see the latest postings. Don't like to nit pick but your posting a separate thread about being back instead of posting on the work beginning just makes the page longer.

So is there a setting to filter out older announcements to make it easier to focus on the new and updated threads??

I've seen that on many forums. The list of those stickys can get so long you have to scroll down 3/4s of the page.I have no idea if it's possible, but I've always thought it would be better if all the sticky's were in one file. Click on that and then the list of seperate threads in that file opens up. It would save a lot of scrolling down. But so far I like what I see with the new change.

I think it would be good to 'un-stick' some of the stickies and consolodate some of the rest of them so we are back to two or three sticky topics maximum.

I love that the file attachment supports both drag & drop and auto-resize.

With drag and drop, I can use ACDSee or other image browser to drag images from, which is a lot better than windows' thumbnail view inside a file requestor. And I don't have to re-navigate to that folder or cut and paste the URL if I already have it open in ACDSee or windows explorer.

Also very responsive on the dedicated server, way to go.

The new theme will take some getting used to but having modern responsive features in it is nice.

As a last note, I find it amusing that in the user profile area, it still contains fields for the now deceased ICQ, AIM and Yahoo messenger services. If you can remove those options it might clean it up a bit at no loss.

This new stuff looks good and seems to be quite responsive. It was easy to upload a photo for my avatar. I do miss having the "newest posts" button right up on the bar, but going to Quick Links to find it isn't too bad. Sorta liked having the member info and avatar on the left side as it seemed more natural. Having it on the right is sorta like reading from right to left. And the ability to save a draft post is really great!!

Great work, guys!!!

Sigh....

I know that the look of provided upgrades are at the mercy of the companies who write them. But since Windows 8 came onto the scene, screen graphics have become flat, bland, are all cookie cutter in appearance and contain less information/text per screen area view.... All brought about and inspired by the redesigned Windows 8/10 GUI (which was in all probably created by MS coders following a twelve day drunk). I can only wish and hope the company's who write the software I use will finally port them over to Linux so I, and many others who have come to loath Windows, and Microsoft, can finally rid it and them from our systems.

Sorry for the rant. Just had to get it off my chest.
