Yup, read yours and the other posts. I was just trying to reinforce the use of Stress Proof in my own words with a little perspective on related steel hardness with different bronzes. If you felt I was contradicting you, one upping your comments, or otherwise raining on your parade I apologize.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the great info. I am going to go down the 1144 road. Have ordered ground stock from speedy metals.
Thanks again,

Another choice could be dowel pins... They are C47, ground to ± .0001" to .0003" and the Ø 0.75" has a breaking strength of 57,000 lbs. The pull type also are internally threaded. Micro 100 or solid carbide will cut them. They're available in many lengths - McMaster Carr to the rescue.

Nothing of the sort.daves1459 wrote:If you felt I was contradicting you, one upping your comments, or otherwise raining on your parade I apologize.
BTW, it's spelled "StressProof," one word, with the "P" capitalized. The trademark is owned by Niagara LaSalle, a long-time producer of specialty steels.

Dowel pins are a poor choice. This would be OK for the main pin providing that there is not a thread on the end to hold the rods on.

Dave - 'Pull' pins (as you know) are internally threaded.....the main crank pin with an eccentric crank could be the rod retainer? I'm asking....
