Miniature Locomotive Outtakes
Type in the above and enjoy a nice you tube clip. The engine was built by a Mr B Harris and was filmed in 1934 I think. This guy had a very interesting club track to run on.

Look like 1/8 scale. If so, rare for that time. And sound, also unusual. Anyone know where it was taken?

Re: Miniature Locomotive Outtakes
Would that be the Bill Harris of "Falk" and Steam Roller fame ?
He was a member of the GGLS group I believe
I had the pleasure of speaking to him about 15 years ago (?) just before he passed away.
Nice guy

I don't think I would try to put down some portable track on a city sidewalk today, but it looks like great fun.

Re: Miniature Locomotive Outtakes
Running down a public sidewalk in the 21st century does take place.
Just did it.
The secret to such an achievement? You're asked to do it.

Ohmygoodness! Running on a public sidewalk!! What were they thinking?
No parental protection for the innocence of all those unaccompanied, vulnerable, happy, well-behaved children.
No police on-site to protect crowd from the passing car and distant truck.
No OSHA inspectors.
No Lawyers in sight. (That explains everything.)
Gotta love the mentality of today.

Now Bob...you are being very cynical when it comes to those practicing the legal profession...

One observation. The sidewalks were in as bad a shape then as they are now.

Re: Miniature Locomotive Outtakes
Back in the 1940's during the Second World War, the Golden Gate Live Steamers built an elevated, portable track down the public sidewalk on 76th Avenue in Oakland, California. (Didn't know that, did you guys ?) As a special event for the Southern Pacific Storekeeper's Assn, they gave rides to the kids in the neighborhood ! Larry Duggan, former GGLS Secretary and Founder of the Club Bulletin "The CALLBOY", wore himself out lifting kids on and off riding cars !
SO-- sidewalks DO have their city wide purpose !! Providing a private right-of-way for Live Steam enthusiasts.
