Dreyfuss tender help
A 25 year project is nearing completion, a J3 Dreyfuss streamlined Hudson. If you haven't checked the build log Jack Bodenmann is putting the finishing touches on the locomotive and it is a beauty. I started the locomotive early in the 90s when there were some castings from East Coast Locomotives. The project was intimidating and soon grew large crowding my garage workshop. Then came Klamath Locomotive for castings and machine work of questionable quality. After a disaster with the cylinders and Klamath's demise the project stalled and I thought that I had created an expensive anchor. However, Jesse Banning thought the cylinders could be salvaged and he spent several years working on the cylinders, valve gear, boiler and drivers. Much help and information also came from Jim Abrams who is also many years into building a Hudson. I talked Jack into taking on the project a couple years ago but I had to wait a year or so before he could begin his magic. In the interim period I acquired a a CNC mill and this helped complete the brake linkage and the new roller bearing rods. Jack has worded miracles with the sheet metal work and the fittings and hardware. The tender in progressing but I need to find a company that can precision roll 0.050 brass sheeting into the compound curves that characterize the shape of the tender. The longest pieces are about 40 inches long and there are three different curves that need to be rolled with some cutouts. The simplest shape is the lower skirt and there are two different compound curves forming the top of the tender. I'm located in the far Northwest so a shop near this location would be ideal. Thanks for any info. Doug

So then you're located in Alaska? That, to me, is far Northwest.streamlinedhudson wrote: I'm located in the far Northwest so a shop near this location would be ideal. Thanks for any info.
While it's not mandatory, I think you'll find you'll get far better response to your inquiry if you'd disclose your state, so folks who are local to you might be inclined to lend support. You can do that by editing your profile, so it appears in all your posts. So far as I know, no one has ever suffered any undesirable consequences from doing so, but many have been set aside because they prefer to be invisible. No need to disclose your address, but keeping your location a secret is likely to be met with considerable distrust from readers. I know I'm generally more reserved when I'm dealing with folks who choose to remain anonymous. Just sayin'!

I live on San Juan Island in the far Northwest corner of Washington from about April to Nov and in Southern California for the rest of the year. Sorry for any confusion about my location. Doug
