Does anyone know of a source for 1/4" diameter red line gauge glass? I can find metric diameters, but, not inch diameters. At least not as small as 1/4".

Thanks,
David

I already got a response from Locoparts. Jeff says it is not made any smaller than 1/2". I know it used to be made smaller than that, but perhaps not anymore? Hmmm....

you could put one of these behind the glass. It works very well.

Hi James, yes, I might go with millimeter diameter. 6mm is only about .013" smaller than 1/4". It might work. I don't know if my O rings will bridge the gap.

Hi Fred, yes, I already have one of the striped patterns behind my glass. It does work well. The problem is, this is on a 1 inch scale loco. I am so much higher than the glass when I'm sitting on my riding car, the pattern does not show up well for me. Otherwise, it does work well

Thanks,
Daivd

The red line on my glass was painted on a plain water glass. The red has a white stripe on each side.

I tried that once using Rustoleum but it didn't take the heat well. What paint did you use?

I'm sure it Rustoleum. My dad painted it and he liked Rustoleum. It isn't as bright as it was first applied but the red still stands out in front of the white stripes.

I used Testors model paints for red line painting. Red strip in middle and over painted wide stripe of white. It has stood up well.

The old testors paint was enamel. Maybe takes the heat better than Rustoleum?
