AIR COMPRESSOR IDENTIFCATION

Post by utahwestie »

Hello All,

I picked up this nice air compressor yesterday.

Can anybody please help identify its maker? I don't see any names or markings on it.

Thanks
Ant.

Could it possibly be an example of the Moodie Braun designed for Modeltec pump?? Does anyone have a copy of this project for Modeltec Magazine from Nov '84 with the followup article of Sept '85 that I could get a copy of to see if it is one?

Steven :P :P

Is that a Power Models pump; Van Brocklin design?

Moody Braun designed and developed the compressor mentioned above by Steven during the transition period of Little Engines ownership to him from Irene. The pump was listed (drawings/materials.... It was bar stock construction and no castings) in the LE catalog during the early 1980s well before the pump's construction how-to article appeared in Modeltec.... The pump was not designed specifically for a Modeltec construction how-to article. The same was true of the LE "Crab" loco which also appeared in Modeltec during the 80s.

BTW.... Moody designed the pump primarily as a water pump but, with modifications Moody designed for it, it could also be built as an air pump.

The drawings are available right now. Just look for "modeltec duplex simplex pump" on Ebay.

Ah, sorry about that! The Moody Braun pump was also featured in Modeltec. The magazine was November of 1984. This is also available on Ebay. There are in fact three copies available right now.
