Alco West.

Post by PatGilmartin »

Hello this is my first post on the board.
Thank you to the Admins for approving my request to join.
So I’ve been scouring the Internet for suppliers of drawings/castings and eventually found my way here and then to Alco West.

Whom I contacted over a week ago via the contact request form on their web site, but as yet no response.

Is anyone able to advise me if they are still trading, on holiday or just really busy?

Thank you.

Pat.

It is not clear to me why some businesses post a contact email address at a website, and then simply do not respond to emails. If you don't do email, please just post a phone number at the website. I have encountered this many times, especially for overseas businesses.

I've done business with AlcoWest and found Bruno to be professional and easy to deal with. He is a business owner and last time I exchanged emails with him (a month ago) was extremely busy. Don't know about Bruno's experience, but I find most emails (unless from folks I already know) to be a waste of time.

If email is a waste of time, why bother posting your email address?

Agreed: Only put out there the main way you wish to be contacted. Another example, don't put your fakebook information on there if you're never going to get on your account and don't want to accept inquiries from there. Ditto for the e-mail.

I hear what you're saying, but my guess is his business is mostly word of mouth. There's a small number of real, paying clients for a guy like him, and a lot of time wasters that don't pay the bills.

Btw, my email is about 98% trash. And this is with a good spam blocker. I'm sure I've deleted real emails in my rush to dump crap and get to work.

Thank you all for your replies. I will keep trying to get in touch with them. He seems to be the only source of N1 Berkshire goodies in 7 1/4” that I can find.
Cheers.
