Design Features Y-3/Y-3a

Post by EVGEN » Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:53 pm

Hi

I study the drawings of class Y-3/Y-3a. I found different variants of the execution of thepart locomotive: http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=50541 VS http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=47745http://www.nwhs.org/archivesdb/detail.php?ID=49665
Instead of a moving assembly, we have one cast part. It turns out that earlier machines had a more mobile joint? I'm right?

P.S. Where, in addition to the N&W Historical Society Archives, i can get drawings and information Y3a class (number 2050)

It is pointless. I'm on another continent. For the money spent on the trip, you can buy 200-300 drawings of this locomotive;) Good people can take photos from the museum!

The machine is complicated, I need to delve into the technical subtleties. I need a list of drawings (specification) used in the construction and modernization of locomotive No. 2050

Very few will have that level of technical knowledge on a particular locomotive class, certainly one that hasn't operated in excursion service or hasn't been built in live steam by a board contributor.
Good luck though!

Perhaps member Steamchris (on this forum) could help with your question. He has built a Y6b version of this locomotive.

Certainly! His experience will be extremely useful in building models, but these are different locomotives, with their own design features.
I will torment archivists;)

For those interested, I have many prints for the Y6, A and the J class. I copied them from the Birmingham steam shops before the shops were closed.
