material to make leaf spring leafs

Post by michaellynn2 »

I need to make leaf springs. Anyone know where I can find a supplier for leaf spring strips material. I need 5/16" or 1/2" wide. The thickness is not all that important. Thank you folks

McMaster Carr. Look for 1075 spring steel strips.

YW. Most people suggest buying the pre-tempered stock. It can be curved in that state, and this avoids the need for heat treating. You will need to punch any holes or drill with carbide drills.

i have always used "sewer tape", available at hardware stores. it is a bit thicker but works well and is cheap.
