cylinder cock plumbing
I need some ideas on plumbing the front cylinder cocks on the challenger , I thought I had some pictures of the setup on Tom Millers BB but just the rear cylinders.
This is a pretty tight area and with the movement of the front truck it really limits tubing arrangements.
Some one may have a photo of Toms or Brunos front cylinders showing what they did on there locos.
I did start out with an idea but it did not work out , so if any one has photos of similar large locos showing the cylinder cock plumbing it would help a lot.
Thanks

The first thing that comes to my mind looking at your arrangement is why not 45 degree els instead of the standard 90.
You can run both front and back towards the center of the cylinders.
Just a thought....

That is not really the issue , its where to run the lines from the cylinder and onto the chassis .
I need a few ideas for that as a package if that make sense .

Hello Chris,
Here are some pics of the piping on my Northern that Ed Yungling and I assembled. I made unions to connect the piping to the cylinder cocks. 1/8 mpt to 1/8 copper tubing. The tee in the pics is a brass turning. All tubing connections were silver soldered. You can see in the photos that I brought the tubing up the side of the cylinders and to the rear. The steam line connection fitting was fabricated from a 1/8 tee compression fiting and a 90 degree 3/16 compression fitting silver soldered together.
