Can anyone tell me what type locomotive this wheel print is for it is a bit unusual.

Hi Dave...that wheel print looks an awful lot like something that was used on the GG-1's with the quill drive. The welded in "insets" look about right for the hammers on the quill. That would be my best guess. Carl B.

NO!!! not a GG1 This print has been given out to represent a GG1 driver center. This is not correct. GG1 wheels have six spokes not seven

Super Duper GG1 with larger drivers and an extra spoke?? All I have........
Always thought the quill drive was pretty unique to these locos.

NO Bob
Several Pennsy locomotives had them the B1 box cab switcher for one. I know what this print is for I just want to see what answers I get.

Oh drats Dave...you're right again. The "G" had six hammers...and six hammer pockets.

Since your drawing is NOT a "G", I'm out of guesses...unless it was for some other electric type loco. Carl B.

Perfect yes it is for a 62 inch driver . The R1 was in competition against the GG1. The one and only R1 was numbered 4800. When the old rivets came along that loco was numbered 4800 and the R1 was re numbered 4899. When GG1 production reached 4898 they renumber the R1 again to 4999. It remained that number until scrapping.
