Beautiful work!
How was the flange made and attached? Welded on and turned smooth?
If one piece with the stack, you must have had a milling setup for your lathe?

The flange is one piece with stack as explained earlier . It was generated on a old cross slide rotary. I do have other capabilities of generating this flange area, but, I decided to do it the old school way. I helped build the old school as well. :D :D :D :D :D :D Shop math always helps in these situations.

Oh! it was milled on a Bridgeport milling machine 1982. You would have one heck of a time trying to mill this in a manual lathe. Could be done on a CNC lathe with live tooling for sure. I just don`t have that kind of money laying around @ this time, or the floor space. I have just over 500 sq. ft. and we are just about full up. Made up form tool with Dremel and grinding wheel, works fine. Some times I think we over think simple projects. Is anyone else building this particular engine in 3 1/2" gauge ? :) :) :)

Ah ok I gotcha, I missed the cross-slide rotary part on the mill. Old school way, nice work.
