LE 1" scale loco question

Post by cp4449 »

Any one out there have a print of the throttle valve on a LE 1" 0-6-0 I can get a copy of? The throttle vale is located in the cab, spins counter clockwise, with a brass handle. Please PM me if you can scan and send.

Thanks in advance

Is this the valve that you are looking for?
Unfortunately I don't have the drawing, if no one else has the drawing either, I'll take the valve apart and sketch it up for you.

If the throttle is above the fire box door then yes that is it. The shaft that the handle is on is worn down on mine. The handle, made of brass, has a set screw to tighten, but it not compress enough to stay rigid. Solder it, or try to make a new shaft?

There's no set screw on my valve that I can see, the shaft and handle hole are square, possibly the handle base is threaded and jambs up to the shaft to act as a set screw, don't know. This valve came with an old boiler, cab and smoke box that I bought, I always thought it was a brake valve until one of the guys at my club told me it was a throttle valve. Did Mike find the drawing?
If not and you need me to make a sketch, let me know and I'll get on it. John

P.s The body looks to be a casting, some of the parts may have come from LE and others fabricated from stock.

If only I had an 0-6-0 that came with a full set of prints and six notebooks full of operating and change data in them...

(I'll look in my files.)
