A VISIT TO HORSESHOE CURVE

Post by Trainman4602 »

Two week ago My friend Dan ebtfan on here paid a visit to the Mill Creek Central Railroad The host Dick McCloy was gracious. The railroad is top notch and the steam locomotives were in abundance.

On the way back we decided to visit the horseshoe curve as well as the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona PA.

Here is the video enjoy

Thanks Dave.
Another nice video; great comment on Iranians.
Think of the stress on couplers at the head end of the train!

That engineer knows Dave - he blew the horn - "Hay Dave"

Didn't you notice the nice lady in the green blouse tried and tried to get you to notice her....come on Dave! She wanted to take you home.

This is great! Makes me happy to see commerce keeping the rails alive. Now we need to increase US made products keeping the rails hotter.

The Horseshoe Curve is visible from above too at 'Hawks Nest' which is (or used to be) a pull-off on a route above on the mountain. I saw it from there as a kid when the love of 'choo-choo' trains began. Darn diesels had already taken the rails....
