I'm curious what sort of statistics would seem to provide greater (or any) value? The ones presented here seem typical, quite representative of what I would expect, and of what I've seen in other forums that I visit.

Here are a few examples of more active forums that I visit:
Threads: 515,448, Posts: 9,907,120, Members: 60,874, Active Members: 1,846 (local motorcycle)
Threads: 1,333,081, Posts: 20,197,432, Members: 297,640, Active Members: 21,413 (local gun)
1,576,747 Posts in 103,578 Topics by 44,237 Members. (astronomy)

I'm not sure how they determine "Active" members, but that might be something more meaningful to you.

Here is from the PM site:
Threads 275,429 Posts 3,189,842 Members 147,109

Here is CNCZone:
Threads 305,695 Posts 2,043,908 Members 489,747

And here again is Chaski:
Total posts 382,454 • Total topics 36,886 • Total members 13,287

All of the above numbers range from less than one to almost 9 topics per member (2.8 for Chaski) and from 165 to 4 posts per member (29 for Chaski). The CNCZone seems to have the greatest number of inactive members and the most active members are from the gun forum. Chaski is just a bit below those average numbers (and Harold is a typical outlier).

I think the forum software that tallies this up uses a rather simple counting algorithm. Most forums do not tolerate duplicate accounts, but I am not sure how the software tallies deleted or frozen (banned) accounts. I'd expect everything is simply tallied, almost like how we tally the number of US presidents...

Here is a somewhat dated article on analyzing internet forums (with an unfortunate example): https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... ical_Guide

Every single forum ever created as far more registered users than active users, simply because of human nature.
