Swiss Steam

Post by JBodenmann »

Hello My Friends
Here is a very cool video of a beautiful locomotive. 01 202, a Pacific built by Germany in 1943 but now lovingly restored and meticulously maintained by the Swiss. In this video we have parallel running through the Swiss mountains. I really like this locomotive. If you do too, there are many videos of her on You Tube.

Hello Jack,
Those Swiss lokomotives belong to the best maintained and running steam engines in Europe. They still perform as their builders intended well in the hands of scilled personal :!: !

Hello NP317,
For you like sure footed decapods, please have a look at DB class 44s on the point of ore trains:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiDVRHYvbUs

This is what we intend to show next year in may at DBC-T :D . Two class 44 locomotives on the point of a 50 car ore train - once nicknamed "Langer Heinrich". The photos show a similar event with a long mixed train some years ago.

Did you ever seen one of the Swiss steamers that was converted to run on overhead catenaries...using electricity to create steam??

Things like this happen when you coal supply is cut off and it is boil water or don't run the railways.
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

Great video! I've seen it before, and watched it again.
Those two locomotives truly show the definition of WORK.

Makes me very nostalgic for times past. I've had the pleasure of riding the foot plate of an American-built Russian Decapod.
Hand-fired coal. it was quite the experience.

This would end poorly for the operator if modeled in scale. :D
