Propane Quick Disconnectss
Propane Quick Disconnectss
I think I ran into a live steamer at NOELS this past summer who was firing up his Harris 2 1/2" Shay on Propane. He had Quick Disconnect hose fittings that looked like the ones you have on air tools but these were about half size. If I remember right they were stainless with 1/8" npt threads on the female part and barbed fitting on the male end. They may even have had auto close off on both fittings.
Any one know where I can get these?

I'm using Swage QC4 for propane on the little wagon. They seem to work OK for it, but be aware you are almost certainly outside of the technical advice of the maker by using them for a flammable gas.
(I don't have access to the Swage books any more, so can't comment if I am or not- some of the swage stuff is rated for a lot more active than Propane...)

I use accetalyne gas quick disconnects for propane as they are designed for a reliable seal with fuel gases.
They are available at welding supply houses.

...the one caveat with quick disconnect fittings...make sure they are "bored through". You don't want the disconnect fittings to create any restriction in the fuel path. Else, you might end up starving the burner for fuel. This has come up before. Carl B.

Joe...have a photo of the connector you stock? Do you carry different sizes?
Otherwise, 45 degree connectors with a push-on barbed hose fittings from places like McMaster-Carr work. These may NOT as "quick" as a quick connector, but just as functional. Just sayin'....Carl B.

Re: Propane Quick Disconnectss
Are those the Hanson brand fittings?
If so, they work well, and I use them on both my steamers.
