Seeking pics/details for dome sander valves on logging locos

Post by NP317 »

I need photos and details for the and dome-mounted pneumatic sander valves used on US logging locomotives.
Until I can drive the 3 hours from home to photograph and measure those "locally" in use, I am hoping someone has such to share here.

Existing locomotives using these valves include:
Rayonier (Polson) #70 at Mineral, WA,
Rayonier (Polson) #2 ,#45, & #90 (at Garibaldi, OR)
#15 in Centralia, WA,
And many others.

My goal is to fabricate accurate appearing non-functioning valves for my Polson #90 steamer.
Thanks to this Community, for any assistance provided.

I seem to remember Jack Bodenmann making such sanders for a NKP Berkshire some years ago?
Or maybe these from Brian Keim:

Fender:
Thanks for that info.
I actually purchased the sander valves from Brian Keim.
They are a different design than what I desire, and are too large for my loco. Absolutely gorgeous, too.
They will be gracing larger steamers in my local Live Steamers Group.
Nothing wasted.

What about manual sanders like so many logging locomotives had?

Not scale for the 1926 loco I am modeling. Thanks for the suggestion.
I do have those on my Ten Wheeler. 'Look appropriate.
