Indiana railway museum #97

Post by hoppercar »

There was a posting on chaski on moguls, and someone mentioned the ol #97 mogul at Indiana railway museum...I posted a couple threads on it, about how I fired it many years ago......got out in the shop, found some old photographs, and stirred up many happy memories. Wanted to start a new posting here on 97, maybe we can bring some more people out of the wood work, who had experience on this engine....would love to hear about it !!!

It was a sad day in Brownville when they were prepping it for shipment. A friend of mine has the scale ticket from them weighing the engine on their track scales. I could never bring myself to go back to the M&G after the diesel took over.
BTW, the stack already has a hole rusted through its side while still running in Alabama!
