How to service an American Models Steam gauge

Post by Steamin » Sun Mar 03, 2019 9:34 pm

Has anyone serviced their American Models miniature steam gauge? I'd like to zero the needle on the peg again, but can't tell if the front bezel is threaded on the body or if it is a push fit to take it apart.
Thanks,
Steamin

Answer: the front bezel unscrews from the body, standard right-hand thread.

One of the best ways to help you with this project understand there is a racking gear in there and it is not uncommon for the bourdon tube to come unsoldered creating a problem where the gear to skip after many years of trial-and-error Paul and I have determined that we need to insulate the Gage from Heat this has proven to service very very well

Highiron, do you have any picture showing how you install and insulate the gage from heat? Timmy

Highiron, would this also put the gauge off in pressure.

BTW Timmy, American Models will do a service on the gauge. Email or call for the price.
