Half round source

Post by Soot n' Cinders »

Does anyone have a good source for brass or copper 1/4" diameter half round stock? I need some for the tank on the shay and have not been able to source it. Special Shapes seems to have discontinued theirs and the other suppliers I know of dont go smaller than 5/16" diameter.
Slit copper tube would also work if thats available.

Jack Bodenmann has described how he makes it from round stock.

Here is a place that sells Half Round Brass, but you would have to look thru the sizes they offer.

And, of course, their price may be too much;

I got some of that jeweler's brass off Ebay and it wasn't all that much money. It worked just fine.
